Original Watercolour Paintings materials

I have used a variety of papers for my paintings but my favoured medium is Saunders Waterford Rough Paper (600gsm or 300gsm). as this is very rigid and does not require stretching, it also frames exceedingly well.

Original Oil Painting materials

Sandwood Bay

For all my original oil paintings I have used Alkyd quick drying oils. I have again used a variety of papers and canvas. The majority of small paintings are painted on a light textured oil painting paper.

The panoramic original paintings are painted on Jacksons rough watercolour paper (which has a canvas like texture) which I sized prior to painting.

The canvas on board paintings and the stretched canvas paintings are all on quality canvas. The stretched canvas paintings are sold unframed.

Frames and Bevelled Mounts

The frames I have chosen for the paintings are manufactured by 'Fine Art Trade Guild' craftsmen using the best quality materials. To reduce the risk of damage in transit the frames are fitted wth plastic glass. My framed paintings, where applicable, are fitted with a soft white bevelled mount. We offer mounts in soft white only - I believe that this complements all the paintings.

Frame Profile

Toned Mahogany Toned Mahogany
A beautiful elegant 45mm traditional banded stained wood moulding with gold sight edge. One of our most popular mouldings, ideal for those who require a traditional or classic look to their frames. A good all-round choice which works well with Paintings of all types and characteristics.
Classic Stained Wood

Classic Stained Wood
This 35mm frame is a classic mahogany coloured stained wood moulding, with traditional gold sight edge. Available only for the wide panorama oil paintings this moulding is a beautiful complement for the UK seasonal landscape colours in my paintings.

Chestnut
The 45mm depth of the moulding brings an added dimension to the paintings. The rich mid brown stained wood colour with gold sight line perfectly complements the earthy tones of the mountain landscape, which I try to capture in my paintings. This mouding is retained in stock.

Champagne
This 39mm shaped scratched silver foil wooden moulding, in certain lights takes on a champagne colour, and adds fizz to the ochres and umbers of landscape scenes. Ideal for use with traditional and modern domestic styles.

A smaller 23mm version of this is used on smaller paintings. This frame is also fitted with a matching fillet mount to enhance the painting. This version is fitted with glass.

Oak Oak
This is a beautiful, high quality 35mm flat moulding made from natural oak with a barefaced finish. Wood grain patterns vary between batches as one would expect with the natural character of the wood. However, patterns are always matched as best as possible when the frames are produced. This is an excellent all-round choice - ideal for use with traditional and modern domestic styles.
Beech
It is 30mm moulding made from natural beech with a barefaced finish and has a very gentle slightly cushioned profile. Wood grain patterns vary between batches as one would expect with the natural character of the wood. However, patterns are always matched as best as possible when the frames are produced. This is an excellent quality frame and enhances the paintings.
Rich Brown Dark Chocolate
This 20mm frame is a dark rich brown wood, it's narrower width complements the smaller oil or watercolour paintings, with their rich earthy tones. It is suited to most environments. This moulding is fitted with glass.
Ebony
A 27mm wide wooden moulding with gentle cushion profile and a rich black satin finish. Suitable for use in a modern or 'minimalist' domestic and corporate applications. An excellent all-round moulding which works well with paintings, particularily snowy scenes.
Natural
This natural grained polished wood frame is 22mm dep with a rebate of 40mm. This moulding suits the natural tones of landscape scenes and can be hung flush to the wall if desired to achieve a modern finish.
Wenge Wood

Wenge
This is a 36mm modern Wenge Wood moulding. It has a mixed tone modern brown finish. It is a simple finish which enhances the tones of the UK Landscape and will fit in both a home or corporate situation.

Kubit Wood Frame
This is a 3mm wide, 50mm deep natural wood moulding giving that sought after minimalist look. It is ideal for displaying oil on canvas paintings, achieving a similar look to stretched canvas (the sides display wood not painting). The frame fits flush to the wall and the painting sits approx 7mm into the frame on a rim.
This frame is also available in a Dark wood on paintings sized at 34"x11"
