Original Watercolour Paintings materials |
I have used a variety of papers for my paintings
but my favoured medium is Saunders Waterford Rough Paper
(600gsm or 300gsm). as this is very rigid and does
not require stretching, it also frames exceedingly
well.

Original Oil Painting materials |
 |
For all my original oil paintings
I have used Alkyd quick drying oils. I have again
used a variety of papers and canvas. The majority
of small paintings are painted on a light textured oil painting paper or canvas on board.
The panoramic original paintings
are mainly painted on either canvas or oil canvas paper. ALK055 and ALK107 are both oil on board paintings.

Frames and Bevelled Mounts
The frames I have chosen for the paintings are
manufactured by 'Fine Art Trade Guild' craftsmen using
the best quality materials. To reduce the risk
of damage in transit the frames are fitted
wth acrylic glazing. My framed paintings,
where applicable, are fitted with a soft white bevelled mount. We offer mounts in soft white only -
I believe that this complements all the paintings. |
Frame Profile |
|
 |
Toned Mahogany
A beautiful elegant 45mm traditional banded stained wood moulding with gold sight edge. One of my most popular mouldings, ideal for those who require a traditional or classic look to their frames. A good all-round choice which works well with Paintings of all types and characteristics. |
 |
Champagne
This 23mm shaped scratched silver foil wooden
moulding, in certain lights takes on a champagne
colour, and adds fizz to the ochres and umbers
of landscape scenes. Ideal for use with traditional
and modern domestic styles. This is used on the smaller paintings with an enhanced fillet mount.
For the larger paintings a 36mm version of this frame is used with a standard mount. |
 |
Beech
It is 34mm moulding made from natural beech with a barefaced finish and has a very gentle slightly cushioned profile. Wood grain patterns vary between batches as one would expect with the natural character of the wood. However, patterns are always matched as best as possible when the frames are produced. This is an excellent quality frame and enhances the paintings. |
 |
Dark Chocolate
This 20mm frame is a dark rich brown wood, it's narrower width complements the smaller oil or watercolour paintings, with their rich earthy tones. It is suited to most environments. This moulding is fitted with glass. |
 |
Ebony
A 27mm wide wooden moulding with gentle cushion profile and a rich black satin finish. Suitable for use in a modern or 'minimalist' domestic and corporate applications. An excellent all-round moulding which works well with paintings, particularily snowy scenes. |
 |
Natural
A 22mm wide, 40mm deep moulding with a natural wood lacquered finish. This moulding is an excellent choice if you are looking for something which is both simple and elegant. |
 |
Stone
A
36mm wide
modern white washed wooden frame, suitable for use with paintings displaying autumnal colours and will blend with any room style and colouring, also suitable for a corporate environment. |
 |
Wenge
This is a 36mm modern Wenge Wood moulding. It has a mixed tone modern brown finish. It is a simple finish which enhances the tones of the UK Landscape and will fit in both a home or corporate situation.
